The Part 1 comprehensive training program provides the essential tools for working with children with special needs. Part of Sonia’s uniqueness is working directly with children durng the course.  We encourage parents or carers to schedule 25-40 minutes with Sonia, where she personally assesses and works with your child. Parents or carers are by the child’s side and the participants observe from a distance.  These demonstrations are invaluable for the child, the parent/carer and the participants of the class.  There are only four spaces available for this individual instruction, taking place from Wednesday to Friday afternoons.  If you have or know of a child that would benefit from one-to-one time with Sonia, please contact Hersha (Local Program Coordinator).  We will require you to fill out a questionnaire to submit in advance of the Program.

Participants will be responsible for their flights, meals and accommodations.  The nearest airport is Hong Kong International Airport (HKG).  There are many reasonably priced hotels and accommodations.  If you need a room with disabled access, please remember to mention it at the time you make your reservation.  Hersha is happy to make recommendations and provide assistance when booking.

Please come in comfortable, loose-fitting clothes (allowing you to move freely during Yoga).  The instructor will be providing some teaching materials, however participants are required to bring the following:

  • A notebook and writing materials

  • A Yoga mat & cushions

  • A therapy doll for you to practice with during group instruction and yoga demonstrations. The doll should have arms and legs long enough to manipulate into yoga poses. Large size “Raggedy Ann” type dolls work best, approximately 18 inches long.

To confirm your reservation, please make full payment. Payment must be received by the registration deadline to confirm your space.

All payments made are non-refundable, unless the program is canceled by Yoga For The Special Child (YSC), in which event you will receive a full refund minus administration fee of HK$680. However YSC shall not be responsible for refunding airline tickets or hotels under any circumstances.

No Certificate or License will be issued to any participant who fails to attend the complete program. There are no exceptions.

The teacher training experience can be a time of deep emotional connection for some people. Though this process is healing, it can also be stressful. If you have any history of mental illness i.e. depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, posttraumatic stress disorder or any form of psychosis, it would be very helpful for your teacher to know in order to be sensitive to your needs.
