Yoga for Special Needs & Disabilities

Hersha Yoga advocates for persons with disabilities and special needs in Hong Kong. All people, no matter their ability or background have a right to benefit from the ancient teachings of yoga. Hersha Yoga creates tailor-made yoga programs for individuals and organisations to ensure that yoga and meditation become accessible to as many people as possible. 

Individual Yoga Therapy

Hersha offers private yoga sessions for children and adults with disabilities and special needs, following a safe and gentle therapeutic protocol based on The Sonia Sumar Method. Hersha has experience with:

  • Heart disease and stroke
  • Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, autism, ADD/ADHD
  • Muscular dystrophy
  • Rare genetic diseases

Hersha has pioneered the movement in making yoga adaptive and inclusive for children with special needs and rare diseases in Hong Kong. She has developed a number of in-house and after school programs across a number of SEN schools:

YAMA Foundation

A unique non-profit in Hong Kong that makes yoga, arts and meditation accessible to communities that would not have the opportunity to benefit from these ancient teachings and wellbeing services. YAMA provides free community outreach programs to under-served communities.
